And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment,
For we will surely die and are like water spilled on the ground which cannot be gathered up again. Yet God does not take away life, but plans ways so that the banished one will not be cast out from him.
But now he has died; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me.”
For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
He leveled a path for His anger;
He did not spare their soul from death,
But gave over their life to the plague,
A time to give birth and a time to die;

so that all the trees by the waters may not be exalted in their stature, nor set their top among the clouds, nor their well-watered mighty ones stand erect in their height. For they have all been given over to death, to the earth beneath, among the sons of men, with those who go down to the pit.”

Celebrate your feasts, O Judah;
Pay your vows.
For never again will the wicked one pass through you;
He is cut off completely.
Thus says the Lord,
“Though they are at full strength and likewise many,
Even so, they will be cut off and pass away.
Though I have afflicted you,
I will afflict you no longer.
Now therefore send, bring your livestock and whatever you have in the field to safety. Every man and beast that is found in the field and is not brought home, when the hail comes down on them, will die.”’”
For I will die in this land, I shall not cross the Jordan, but you shall cross and take possession of this good land.
David also said, “As the Lord lives, surely the Lord will strike him, or his day will come that he dies, or he will go down into battle and perish.
No man has authority to restrain the wind with the wind, or authority over the day of death; and there is no discharge in the time of war, and evil will not deliver those who practice it.

Therefore you should now clearly understand that you will die by the sword, by famine and by pestilence, in the place where you wish to go to reside.
